RESPONSIBILITIES
Refine and further develop our multi-year strategic plan and framework for achieving impact. Evolve our thinking in this area on the basis of new scientific analysis, your own perspectives, and our team’s learned experience.
Serve as the organization’s in-house expert on ocean science and marine biodiversity policy. Maintain a robust set of international contacts in this field, and have a deep understanding of the current status of policymaking efforts.
Lead the ideation and selection process for determining the specific projects, initiatives, and campaigns we pursue annually or over multiple years.
Ensure all of our chosen projects, initiatives, and campaigns are executed with strategically sound plans, timelines, and budgets.
Directly manage a high-stakes sub-set of that work.
Manage our team’s engagement with external programmatic partners (NGOs, coalitions, lawmakers, etc…).
Manage our team’s engagement with and selection of mico-grant partners.
Supervise production of regular analytics reports on major campaigns and ongoing growth to inform broader team on progress and success.
SKILLS

You’ve managed policy, advocacy, or marketing campaigns for at least 5-7 years. You have extensive experience coordinating communications, advertising, digital advocacy, policy, and organizing work.

You know how to start from science, and to integrate your organization’s work into the nitty gritty of existing policy and advocacy efforts.
You have experience developing campaigns and partnerships within the context of extensive scientific analysis and recommendations. You know how to anchor your work in that analysis, but evolve from it for public engagement purposes.
You likely have significant experience at the intersection of environmental policymaking, science, and advocacy; you likely bring a network of contacts in these fields, and have deep knowledge of current activities and debates.

You’re adept at managing by influence across team verticals, and at coordinating the work of coalition partners. You know how to support others to achieve excellence, and hold them accountable for results, in a collaborative and supportive way.
